How To Use The Back-Up Loader On Wii

Here you will learn how to install and use the Back-Up Loader. In easy picture, by picture steps so you don't get confused in the process

What You Will Need

In order to use the Back-Up Loader you will need the homebrew channel already installed,

SD card with 3MB space and you will also need
to download the ready made pack below

Putting The Files On Your SD Card

First, you will need to copy the Back-Up Loader pack to your SD card
To do this follow the steps


Extract the Back-Up Loader Pack and open the extracted folder


Go into to folder "Wii SD Card


Highlight the two folders in there and copy them (Ctrl + C)


Put your Wii's SD card in your computer and paste the two folders in there


Eject your SD card safetly so the files don't get corrupted

Configuring Your Wii

Now you will need to configure your Wii so you can use the Back-Up Loader, to do so follow the steps below


Put Your SD Card in your Wii and go on the Homebrew Channel


When loaded, chose "WAD Manager"


Press "A" on your Wiimote to continue


Select "Wii SD Slot" and press "A" on your Wiimote


Press "+" on your Wiimote to select the WAD


Press "A" to continue to install the WAD


The WAD file will begin to install...


It will say "OK!" once installed sucessfully, if a error
comes up check that you followed the steps above right


Go back to the HBC and load up "app/DVD Libdi/boot.dol


Scroll down to "Advance Install" and press "A"


Highlight "IOS" and to the right of it choose "IOS249"
as shown in the picture, then click on "Install"


If all goes well it should say "Installation successful!"
Now restart your Wii.

Burning & Patching Discs

Now your Wii is ready to ether play Back-Ups or Downloaded
games, I will be using Zelda as a example. So lets start!


Ether rip a disc or download a ISO of a game,
if your ripping a game which I doubt your are! You
have to make it into a ISO file using a program first.


Once you have ripped or downloaded a game, go
in the the Back-Up Loader Pack and open up
"Computer" there will be two files in there

(Sorry there is no pictures for the last few steps, You should easily be able to do it anyway though)

Put your ".ISO" game in there next to "Backup Creator.exe"


Right click on the .ISO game and select "Open With"


Browse though your computer and find "Backup Creator.exe"
and open it with it


The program will open now and patch the ISO game file,
the new patched game ISO will be named "partition.iso"


Burn the new ISO game image with ImgBurn
program to a DVD+R not any other types of discs as it
currently won't work with them.

Here is a tip for burning the game: To get best results
burn the game at the slowest speed


Now load up HBC and select "Back-Up Loader" and hopefully
it should load up the game with no errors at all!

Known Problems

There are only a couple of problems with this beta which are:

1. Online play is not stable
2. The intro movies won't play well
3. NTSC systems play in black & white
(Unless you use a HD or VGA wire)
