LTJ Bukem - Logical Progression (Level 1)



A founding father of drum 'n' bass, LTJ Bukem is known as DJ, producer, and head of the influential London-based Good Looking and Looking Good labels. A label overview, this double-disc collection (released in 1996, the first of a series) assembles a cast of rulin' DJs and presents enough house influences and steady rhythms to serve as a solid introduction to the genre. Bukem includes his own best-known recordings ("Music," "Demon's Theme," "Horizons") on disc one, then remixes disc two himself, including Photek's "Pharoah," a bubbling cauldron of beats; Peshay's progressive "Vocal Tune"; and DJ Trace's "After Hours," a track that sums up succinctly the vibe of this compendium. In gathering together these DJs and performances, Bukem provides an archive of cutting-edge mid-'90s breakbeat that will continue to sound fresh for years to come.
