Dune 2000
Dune 2000 is a real-time strategy game released in 1998 by Westwood Studios, the developers of the
Command and Conquer universe. The game is a sort of remake of
Dune 2, widely acclaimed as the original real-time strategy game and based on characters and cultures from Frank Herbert's novels based in the
Dune universe.
The game uses the
C&C: Red Alert engine, so the player assumes the role of commander from the traditional top down view. While the environments are not as vibrant as those seen in Red Alert, the players is given 3 different factions to choose from: the noble
House Atreides, the brutal
House Harkonnen and the sneaky
House Ordos. As is to be expected from Westwood Studios, the story of the political conflicts between these 3 factions is acted out in numerous high quality FMV sequences.
